Drama Therapy
Sometimes talking just isn’t enough…
Drama Therapy is the therapeutic use of dramatic/ theatrical tools such as role-play, movement, improvisation, play, and story-telling.
As a Registered Drama Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor, I offer both traditional talk therapy sessions and creative drama therapy sessions. Many people find drama therapy to be a powerful, engaging, and transformative alternative to talk therapy. You do not need a theatre background to engage in drama therapy.
Everyone is different, and therefore every client’s drama therapy experience will look a little different. Treatment begins with a thorough mental health assessment which feels a lot like traditional talk therapy. My drama therapy work includes an individualized combination of role-playing, improvisation, movement, story-telling, and engaging with metaphor.
I use Drama Therapy to help my clients deal with a number of issues including:
- Trauma
- Sexuality
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Relationship problems
